Frankincense

Our UK hydrodistiller usually imports nice white frankincense resin (Boswellia carterii) from somalia but supply can fluctuate in quality with much oil resin available being a browner resin from ethiopia.  An Omani study exists of certain properties of Omani frankincense (Boswellia sacra) (Pubmed Dec 2011) which is usually burnt and inhaled.  Indian frankincense (Boswellia Serrata) is differant again.  Styrax officinalis or 'Jewish Frankincense' has a characteristic terpenolic topnote or put another way smells of gasoline.  Dont let anyone tell you this is frankincense!
